ACRE TARN DAWN FACES

Lake District act Acre Tarn aka Anna-Louisa Etherington has magically harnessed the dark drama and triumphant scale of her native Northern landscape with latest offering, 'Dawn Faces', a haunting mélange of nostalgic Moroder-esque synths, delicately layered vocals, and clattering money-box SFX. There's a touch of Grimes in the singer/writer/producer's gossamer coo, with a heavy lyrical nod to the sadness of lost innocence as she belts out the chorus '...raise our arms outstretched, we're not children anymore' (we can totally imagine this being sung on the peak of a windswept Cumbrian foothill, btw). Having already sold out Servant Jazz Quarters last month, Acre Tarn are most definitely on our radar for 2016. -AO
